Narrated Abu Huraira
Allah's Messenger said

There were two women with whom there were their two sons. A wolf came and took away the son of one of them. That lady said to her companion, "The wolf has taken your son." The other said, "But it has taken your son."

So both of them sought the judgment of (the Prophet) David who judged that the boy should be given to the older lady.

Then both of them went to (the Prophet) Solomon, son of David and informed him of the case. Solomon said, "Give me a knife so that I may cut the child into two portions and give one half to each of you." The younger lady said, "Do not do so, may Allah bless you! He is her child." On that, he gave the child to the younger lady.

Abu Huraira added, "By Allah. I had never heard the word sakkin as meaning knife, except on that day, for we used to call it mudya

Prophet Solomon inherited his father, Prophet David. He was blessed by Allah SWT with wisdom, the language of animals and a kingdom like no other after him. He built the Jerusalem Temple as a house of worship for Allah SWT.

021:078 And (mention) David and Solomon, when they judged concerning the field - when the sheep of a people overran it (at night), and We were witness to their judgement.
021:079 And We gave understanding of the case to Solomon, and to each (of them) We gave judgement and knowledge. And We subjected the mountains to exalt (Us), along with David and (also) the birds. And We were doing (that).
038:030 And to David We gave Solomon. An excellent servant, indeed he was one repeatedly turning back (to Allah).
038:031 (Mention) when there were exhibited before him in the afternoon, the poised (standing) racehorses.
038:032 And he said, "Indeed, I gave preference to the love of good (things) over the remembrance of my Lord, until the sun disappeared into the curtain (of darkness)."
