Allah SWT commanded Prophet Jonah to go to the Assyrians. But he ran away on a ship, whereby he was swallowed by a fish.

After he repented, he was beached on the shore. When he came to the Assyrians, they believed him - and became the strongest state on earth. They conquered the Kingdom of Israel.
